Fall 2026: VEX V5 Robotics Workshop

Program Overview:

Join us for VEX V5 Robotics workshop designed to ignite your passion for engineering and programming. 

The workshop includes 12 sessions (2 hrs each) taught by PhD coaches, with all metal equipment, sensors and access to a massive 12 ft x12 ft game field to launch and practice robot missions.

What to expect:

• Comprehensive Equipment Access, Design and Build:

  1. VEX V5 Starter Competition Kit.

  2. 12x12 Field Kit, Tiles & Field Perimeter.

  3. Miscellaneous parts (sensors, motors, high-strength sprocket & chain kit, controller, etc.)

  4. 2026-27 Game Kit.

• Expert, milestone-based, immersive coaching focused on:

  1. Independent robot driving base design, construction and programming.

  2. Comprehensive understanding of game rules,  scoring, developing effective strategies.

  3. Autonomous and controller-driven gameplay.

  4. Work in teams and collaborate to brainstorm ideas, solve problems, and refine your robot's design

  5. Online VEX challenges.

• Practical Experience:

  1. Team field trip to observe a season tournament.

  2. Friendly scrimmage tournaments to put your robot's skills to the test in exciting competitions against other teams.

  3. We will evaluate team's tournament readiness in November 2026. Based on team's time-commitment and tournament participation interest, we will recommend VEX tournament options to teams & parents.

Workshop Details:

• Class dates: Sep 1st week - mid Dec. Followed by Scrimmage or Tournament (if applicable).

• Time:

  • Wednesday, 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

  • Thursday, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

  • Friday, 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

• Location: ULEAP Headquarters (Loma Verde Ave, Palo Alto)

• Age: 5th-8th Grade

• Team size: 4-6
